Shortarse seat arrived by courier today... Brilliant!
Problem is... I cannot get the key to go more than 4mm into the lock to change the seat out :(
Kawasaki for some reason placed the lock underneath, where all the crap from the road can spray up into it...
    So...
I have sprayed it with penetrating fluid... The stuff is usually pretty good & has allowed me in the past to undo things that Wd40 couldn't help loosen... So far no dice! cautious:
    Any ideas please?

Was expecting someone else more childish than me to comment on that first though haha

In all seriousness are you sure it's the right key and the lock hasnt been changed etc?

I have to change locks on doors sometimes they are seized, we apply a penetrating oil and leave it a bit , the key hole will have a vert small cover over it which moves when you insert the key, so put the key in the 4mm then apply the lubricant, We also apply a lot of it to the key , then insert it , Don't force it and snap the key, esp if it's your ignition key too. Patience is the key , no pun intended

The keyhole should have a rubber cover over it to stop the dirt and grime getting thrown up it off the road. if you think there's dirt and crud in the keyhole try and stick a pin gently up it and pick out any crud, if there's nowt blocking it squirt penetrating oil up it and hold it up there by covering the keyhole with insulating tape (to stop it running straight back out)

Have managed now to clear whatever was screwing up the key making its way into the lock
I sat on the floor with my thumb over the lock to stop the fluid leaking back out .. I couldn't get into the shed to get at toolbox for insulating tape as it's tucked away... Shed shuffle when my cast comes off I think...
Have coated key in 3in one & reinserted it and left it inserted... The key won't turn... Yet.... But it will goddammit.. It will:sneaky:
Thanks for all your replies :D
As for any rubber cover that should be there.. It isn't anymore.. Will sort out getting a replacement though...

Don't think it goes in that far tbh you will find its the same on the fuel cap..

Have you tried bouncing on the seat as you jiggle the key.
The agitation of bouncing on the seat may dislodge fouling grime.
Could be a long job but something like this could help pass the time.

Will have to find someone to do the bouncing for me... Can't balance terribly well atm lol... But thanks for the suggestion :)

Yes.. You are right.. Key only goes in about a third of the key shafts' length for tank/seat locks..
