I've got a laser exhaust (end can only) on my Yami which was second hand off eBay... The finish was fairly worn when i bought it (think it's silver with carbon fibre look paint or coating?), but unfortunately I've put a few surface scratches on so it has seen better days... Does anyone know what I could use to recover it? I don't wanna spend much, but I'm worried obviously about the heat... a simple black would look shit... But a carbon fibre look probably won't come cheaply? Can you get a carbon fibre look wrap that's heat resistant? Any comments welcome Live Forever or Die Trying
If it's real carbon fibre you can rub it down with wet & dry progressively moving to a finer and finer grit, then polish it. That would remove the surface scratches and return the shine. If it's plain metal with a coating then you can similarly rub it down and polish it to shiny metal if you want. Alternatively you can buy a can of high temperature paint like this graphite grey (not black and not a tacky-looking silver): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/E-Tech-Xt..._Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item4ab87a07e8
Cheers Jim It's plain metal with coating I believe... Where the 'carbon fibre' has worn it's silver... Polishing it might be an idea... I'm Worried paint might look shit? Live Forever or Die Trying
Another option is to paint it hi-temp black, then get some of this anti-slip rubber mat - http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=351070081890&alt=web - and pull it tight over the black can. Then give it a couple of light sprays over with the hi-temp graphite grey. Remove rubber mat carefully then give a couple if coats of something like VHT clear lacquer (Very High Temp). Voila. Instant DIY carbon effect. Having said that though, if you don't already have the paint and have to buy it you could probably get a decent 2nd hand can for a similar price lol
How do you tell if its real carbon fibre as mine has cracked had has a few scratches Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
