doing a complete strip and rebuild (not me,a mate)

well my bike is off the road,having a complete strip down to frame.

complete re-powder coating,re-spray and afew bits of bling.



not bad for nearly 10 yr old

The only thing you can do by stripping that bike down is make things worse by not putting it back together properly. It's already mint!

 

as i said its coming up 10 yr old,the frame has started to rust in afew places,cheap crappy suzuki materials....

the tank has afew dings in it and the laquer has started to flake from stone chips.the brake discs needed re-placing aswell.not much actually wrong with the bike, but i thought while i get the frame re-done i may aswell get the other things seen to at the same time.funds allow me at the minute to do it so i thought why not.

 

You wouldn't have guessed it from the photos. I guess that's not the original system?

 

the headers and collector box are original,the only change is the end cans.had them on for 3 yr now.

 

Impressive! I'd have expected the headers to show signs of rust way before the frame. Have you polished them up?

 

no mate,there chromed.the early 1400 k2-k4 had double skinned headers,hence why they dont looked damaged with the constant heating up and down

 

well parts at painters for re-spray,everything else at the powder-coaters.just ordered new headers and collector box,so to go with pod filters she will need a new run on the dyno.new tryes and disc,s to be fitted tomz and then gunna re-polish them up.4 weeks to go b4 she,s back on the road to be kept off the road for winter... :lol:

this guy,s doing the paint,im not sure where the powder-coating is being done as my mate in manchester is sorting it all out.kinda like a ride in ride out service.... :lol:

this is my mate turbo gsx1400.he built it himself and the spray job was done by the guy thats doing mine...had it dyno,d last week...197.6 bhp.

 

new bits arrived today.... :wub: :wub:

 

powder-coatings all back,engine back in frame and pod filter,s fitted

 

new risers fitted



coming along nicely now...a couple more week and i think i may be mobile...ish

 

bike,s almost complete,back on 2 wheels but not my wheels...just got a couple of pics of the paint work before the laquer and wet sand...im almost hard...unlike my bank balance.... :cry:

Excellent work mate,I keep threating to strip mine I made a start last week I took the cans,rear foot pegs and chain guard off :lol:

all laquered and a test fit on the bike,just waiting for my engine casing back and we are back on the road
