I've been having this issue for a few weeks now, and haven't bothered to look at it, or try and fix it purely because I couldn't be bothered, and with the warm weather we've been having it hasn't affected the bike that much. When I bought the bike (Honda Varadero 125) the choke worked fine, It's a carb'ed V-Twin with a manual choke pull. After a few weeks or so, when I'd start the engine and pull the choke out, the engine would die. I have done an Oil+Filter change, an Air Filter change, and a Plug change since this issue has occurred. Since the choke cuts the engine out, I assume the choke cables are still working ? Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be, I'm hoping for a simple fix, but I think most likely it'd probably be something up with the carbs ? A blockage or something, Other than the choke not working the bike runs fine, and I haven't noticed a loss in power.
This is normal. The bike will be over enriching. The bike doesnt need the choke out im this weather. I used mine for the first time since buying the bike last week and it was just cutting out, Thought i had a problem as well, took it to hunts and it was explained to me
Ah, that makes a lot of sense ! I just thought it was weird that it worked one day, then didn't the next Cheers
On the Suzuki I use for the commute all year, I have not needed the choke since April May time. Are you sure you need it this time of year. May find the problem goes away in November.
I got the bike in March, and around April/May time was when the choke started not working. The bike has never failed to start & I haven't needed the choke, Just thought if it was broke,It'd be better to fix it now, rather than when It starts getting cold & I need the choke !
