Just a few questions would appreciate any feedback.

When riding earlier in the cold and wet i found the bike loosing power like stuttering and jolting is this because its too cold and needs a little bit of choke or is it because something has got wet ive never had it do this only when i get towards the end of a gear... was just wondering if a little bit of the choke would help when home i put the choke on half and this did the trick it seemed to idle fine but i just thought id double check with you guys as i dont want to damage anything... Thanks in advance

PS you should all know me by now hahaha ;)

If it's a two stroke and it's not revving out (spluttering before the redline), my experience has taught me that the spark plug cap cover can be the culprit.

Start with the simple, cheap items first before replacing expensive items.

Too much air, not enough fuel.

You need to adjust the mixture/air screw. Not sure where it is on the CG but usually found under the carb near the front.

The base setting should be easy enough to find.

Might be worth checking the timing as well.

Thanks for the replies its been fine all day i know the fuel mixture needs adjusting slightly but its been fine up to now just thinking the cold might not be doing it any good.

Thanks though i need to have a good check over everything :)

I have had a similar problem of late. I have coated the electrics in WD40 as well.
The spark plug connector has been changed 3 times, but the mixture is a new idea, ty :)

The internet seems to the think the spark plug lead gets wet when water runs of the tank. I'll have to do a little bit of WD-40 spraying haha :) I'll also replace the cap the plug was brand new last week so its not that haha. Thanks for the feedback everybody I've needed to sort the mixture for a while. My timing is fine in reply to an earlier post it goes on first or second kick most of the time. :)

WD40 won't stop the water. You could try fitting some rubber strip where the water drips off the tank or fit a grommet around the HT lead to seal the top off the plug.

Just because it starts first time doesn't mean the timing is right.;)

What about an 'O' ring inside the cap of the spark plug? You say WD40 wont stop the water would this prevent it from leaking up inside maybe?

That could work, worth a try anyway.

    How's the points gap?

When the flywheel speeds up it advances the timing automatically as the bob weights inside move outwards. The procedure for setting the timing on the flywheel is described in the Haynes manual that you've got.

Make sure that their are no air leaks between the air box and the engine head as well.

Silicone sealer. New loom in my bike has been fully sealed to stop Such issues. Hasn't cut out once. Also check the over flow holes in your tank aren't blocked- same with the breather. Water in your petrol could cause similar issues

Could this have anything to do with a leaking head gasket?
