jw if anyone new wat it will be.
going to service my bike soon with new filter oil and plugs.

is it o.k. again when it's cooled down?

i suppose check the coils for resistance.
and regulator/rectifiers are always a weak spot on hondas.

Personally I'd start with the cheap and easy things to check first,

Fuel may of been a bad tankfull, change it for fresh, although a little more I'd be tempted to use optimax or similar as it burns slightly better and should be good fuel. If the bikes been sat a few weeks you may also find the fuel has "gone off" or due to the governments idea to introduce 2.5% bio-fuel into petrol that not only are people starving but it may of caused lumps in the fuel (jellyfish) where the bio has fermented. At worst mix your old fuel with some new

There may of been enough power in the battery to do the lights, but not keep the bike running/start it. With a voltmeter see what is left in the battery, if the reading is low charge the battery and try again. if the battery has held it's charge try and start the bike, if it starts rev the engine to around 5500 rpm, the voltage should increase if the charging circuit is working correctly

if the easy things don't cure it then i'd start looking at the more complex problems

whip the plugs out and have a look at them.
if they're black as fook then its running rich and flooding. If they appear ok, then it could be the rectifier for your ignition.. do a google search for your bike and its problem like "cbr400 loss ofd power" or something like that...theres been enough of them built!!
Or maybe see if someone on here can recommend a mechanic?

to me it sounds like something is breaking down with the heat(electronics) but its gues work with proving it first.

good luck . let us know how you get on.

What state are your HT leads in?

    I'd check:

    • [*:1wq4chdp]Are you getting a good spark on each plug?
[*:1wq4chdp]if not, are the HT leads looking sus?
[*:1wq4chdp]check reg/rec, and coils. Manual or google should get the necessary wires and resistances.

As it seems intermittent, I'd say it's almost certainly electrics.

As it's quick and cheap to do first, I'd rule out bad fuel or junk in fuel as nmfp said. Don't know if you're still on your first tankful, but the bike could have stood for ages before you got it.
