Surely my cam should not look like this when on the sprockets ad it's attached to the bottom sprocket also its really tight but why??

Cam chain should be tight when it gos on its baggy then put the guides in it tightens. Up then you have the tensioner that will extend as the chain streaches

This is giving me headache now, the guides are awkward one is on the barrel and needs to already In and the other is on the head and is already in there, I can't add them later I can't seem to loosen the tentioner and if I put that in it goes even tighter

mate undo the screw on the end of the tensioner you should be able to get a screwdriver in to rewind the rod that pushes againnst the chain, when the tensioner is fittd makes sure the rod springs out again to tighten the chain DO NOT TRY TO BOLT ON THE TENSIONER BEFORE REWINDING THE TENSIONER ROD!!!!!!!!1

without looking at it i'd say you need to pull the tensioner out, make sure engine is at tdc, line cam up, cam cover on and then tensioner back in.

tensioner is probaly screw type, you need to wind it out, bolt it bqck on and then let tension go. try first though to see if you can get the tension off while it's still on the barrel.

either way you need the tension off the chain and the cam sitting flat on the head before ypu put the cam cover back on.
