Cabernet's foreword. This is a very good day to dip your toe in the water of track days. I have done a number of the BMW days orgainised by Robert and they are a top day. Oh, and it is not just for BMWs The BMW Club is holding a track-day on Monday 29 September we will be at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire on the full circuit. The day is open to all riders on any make of bike provided that the rider has a full motorcycle driving licence, wears full leathers while on track (securely zipped together if two piece) and the bike is road legal in every respect. Why choose the BMW Club for your track days? If your motorcycling is primarily on the public roads and riding on a track is either an occasional pleasure or a first time experience, there are a number of reasons why you should ride with us: • We are enthusiasts running a not-for-profit day with a “club” feel • We restrict entries to significantly less than the number of bikes allowed on the track at one time so you get more track space than on a full commercial track day • We have instructors who consider it a pleasure to ride with track novices and for first timers we have a maximum of 4 riders per instructor in the first session • We restrict entries to road bikes only which we have found means fewer stoppages on these days so our participants get the full use of the available track time • Instruction, help and assessment available to all participants at no extra cost • Comprehensive safety briefing, with emphasis given to faster riders to look after the less experienced on track • A full programme and timetable for the day, including guidance and advice for newcomers, issued in advance to all participants. It is a few years since we last held a track day at Cadwell but it is a circuit which our instructors know well and at which we all love to ride. Riding round Cadwell Park, is like riding on a fast country lane which some kindly adminstrator has turned into a one-way road; this makes Cadwell an ideal place to develop your “real world” riding skills. The price is £100. Bookings can only be made by sending the organiser a completed booking form and we require payment in full at the time of booking. Nice meal out with the BMW club last night in Louth. Doesn't seem many of them have done this track, so I find myself placed in the experienced group by the organiser. Having ridden in Roberts track days prior, I am not phased by his call. He knows who's attending and has a good grasp of abilities. Certainly been spot on up until now. He has tightened up the rules too. Only bikes with full MOT spec bikes are allowed. Not even daytimes MOT bikes can play. The fellowship the night before and close control really does make for a sociable friendly day and a respectful attitude. The controls on the "Cautious" group on track also make this a great event to open ones track day portfolio. Right then, time for a dump before breakfast.
This sounds like a far more sensible approach - so many track days seem populated with race bikes and people racing ( which isn't actually allowed) - I think a day with just road going mot'd bikes is a far better intro and better way to learn more, & get something out of the day ...?
Eat some concrete and toughen up Nancy...and get those pictures posted pronto so we can show that this forum is about bikes!
