    I have a XJ 600 pre-divi, well someone has too  .

The problem started today, I was riding slowly forward in first gear, pull in the clutch and the bike would cut out, the starter would spin and the bike will start again?? It did it 4 times, but only first, not second, third etc.

    I've never known this before :S .

The bike then stopped and whenever I press the starter there's a 'buzzing' noise from the starter relay, I presume it is the problem, the starter button also feels strange, not much resistence.

In the end I had to bump- start the fuggin' thing, I left it awhile and now the battery is dead.

I hate this friggin' bike and would rather not piddle with the thing, but hey it's got two wheels!

    Do anyone have any ideas?

    Yours confused, Ian.

Is the battery holding its charge after charging it up?

I hardly use the thing to be honest.

The battery is buggered, it really didn't like the cold weather!

As for the stall and the start thing, I've never known that, that's strange.

It will only do it in first and the starter spins straight after it stalls without touching the button.

Ok, update, I have stripped the starter switchgear and the starter button was a bit sticky, could well explain the starting after stalling  .

The battery is on charge, again, and it's clearly toast. The cold weather really screws them up too.

Hopefully it'll be sorted soon so I can thrash the fuggin' thing, oh-er :haha: .

Well I've left it for about two weeks as I really couldn't be arsed with it. I went too try it and it started 3 engine spin. I switched off the ignition and went too try it again, same stupid problem.

I however twiddled with the wire running from the battery earth to the starter and low and behold, success and sorted.

It's now starting every time without fail, ruddy Yamahas :bleh: .

I've tried it again, sorted Alex  .

I guess it must have been the were the starter cable cable connects to the battery earth.

If it does it again I'll just disconnect it and clean it up and re-attach it, that should sort it.

Next job; new fork seals, repair exhaust and MOT time.

I want to swap it for a Suzuki as their my fave, so I better get me finger out  .
