End of last year i low sided, so i desided to take the bike off the road over the winter.
Things are going well, bought loads of new parts including R&G bungs all round. Problem ive got at the moment im waiting for my rear Spring to be powder coated, so i can't take the bike of the stands

I badly marked the Nose, and i burnt a hole through the low panel, and where the R&G bung was, it split the fairing. :S

So i replaced both panels.(second Hand) And it was going to cost loads more to get it covered in vynyl black!!

Im think the rear will have to get done, as well because of the diffrence in Blacks. which im not looking forward to since ive never have the rear of the bike fairing off :(

I know the scratch on the nose dont look much!! BUT they where down to the plastic ...

How I did it , was I used a Hammer to Slacken the top collar, then use a c spanner to loosen the bottom collar all the way, releasing the pressure on the spring, Get a thin screw driver and push the rubber stopper up the shocker shaft (try not to mark the shaft) so your able to remove the lower C collar.

The Powdercoating was about £14 And i got a tin of enamble paint from the range !!

Im not a machanic so dont know the proper name !!so i drew some lines :)

Also do you have to hold the back of the bike up apart from haven the paddock stand on.

Front rear paddock stand. Rear Wheel off need to take all the weight off the rear so you can remove the shock. Ive used 2 axle stand to hold the middle of the bike up and used chains to hold the front on the ground..

I will take some picture when i get up !! just done a 12 hour shift !!!

    Snow and trains :banghead:

Sorry fella i had a lot on over the weekend, and needed to get it back on to move the bike...

Are you taking the shock off in a garage ??

Is there a wooden Joist you could suport the rear of the bike, have to take all the weight off the re-wing arm. so you can remove the shock and spring.

I have solid pegs so i could place a axle under each to support the weight, the front stand locks in to the yoke so its stable..

If you have a engine Hoist you could use that to keep the rear in the air.

Or buy one of these from Hein Gerike page 362

    Hope that helps

check out minja seans rebuild with the bike hung off a step ladder with ratchets.
    dead easy.
put it on back stand, set up a stepladder over the bike like a A frame, fasten ratchet straps to subframe & take the weight.
take the stand away & there you go.
obviously swing on the rear spindle nut first as you dont want to be wellying it while it's suspended.
thats how ive always done it, apart from now ive got a loft hatch in the garage so i put a scaff bar in the joists and hung straps off it.
same with the front end... i lift mine from the yokes while its on the back stand
