Im not a fan of that Fixi GSXR or the F4. The R1 looks good in its original colour schemes though!

It is a sweet looking thing.
I had the BMW R850R and know Boxers sit really nice on the road.
If you can afford to buy new and replace at the end of the warranty, you will love them.
Seen too many mid-mileage Boxers commits mechanical harrykarry to really consider one.

I am looking around for a new mount, but nothing is grabbing me.

A Fazer8 with an MT-09 engine would be nice.
Or a smaller Triumph Sprint with an 800 Tiger lump.
Or a Suzuki V-Strom DL 850 in a GSR frame.
    Or a Dosoduro 875.

The middle heavy weight market is pants at the moment.
I do hope Yamaha do some more with their new triple lump.

I can say after just 650 miles on board the yamy big banger it's the best engine I've ever riden

    Flys out of corners
    2 stroke like engine braking
    Accelerates like a jet
It's faster than my last litre bike the Suzuki Gsxr 1000 cc k6 in every way

Presume you mean the V11 with the popped crank from Oulton in Feb?
Well a new crank in the UK is over £1300 plus shells, gaskets and alike.
I tracked one down in the states for $800 dollars and managed to arranged free transit to the UK , however this was a time consuming process.

However the V11 has had to play second fiddle to a dry rot infestation caused by a sweating lead water main.
I have ripped out the kitchen floor and joist and treat the walls for the dry rot spores.
I have dug out the lead water main and all the way to the road.
Layed the blue MDPE (or something like that) all the way back up the garden and through the house to the to the kitchen.
Then had United Utilies disconnect the lead main and connect up the new one.
Then stripped out all the lead.
Re-wired the kitchen ring main and put two new cooker points in.
Then had a sparky replace the fuse box with a new RCD type isolation box and cert' what I had done.
Then had a Corgi in and remove the old lead gas pipe with copper and run the correct size pipe to the boiler.
Then pre-treated new joists, then sealing them in DPC before installing them.
Laid the final piece of new floor boarding yesterday.
Mrs C is still without an indoor sink and drainer.
She does have the washing machine and dish washer operational though, so do feel too sympathetic for her.

    Back to the V11.
I am waiting on the right big end shells to match the new crank to the existing con-rods
I have ordered a baffle plate for the sump which is meant to prevent oil slopping during heavy braking and acceleration.
The slopping can cause aeration in the oil.
The odometer gearing had failed in the speedo and I was seeing condensation in the rev-counter.
I am changing the clocks out for a TransLogic set.
As I have to split the engine from the gearbox, I may replace the clutch while I am in there.
As the engine, dry clutch and gearbox is similar in layout to a BMW Boxer.
Just need to assess how hard I am the clutch and how much life I have taken out of it in the last decade.
    Thanks for asking.

    So in short.
    The bike is fucked.
    The house is fucked.
    Almost fixed the house.
Then I can finish the bike.
    Lol.
    Best of luck with it.
Thats a fair old bit of work.

the Big Band R1 is a beast on the road..i love em...what i dont like on the one in the pic is the graphics, YEP it looks ace NOW..buy next year it will be out dated when Milwaukee change the paint scheme ...this is always the same with any race reps... everyone wanted a Rizla GSXR a few years back..look dated now cos Suzuki changed sponsors about ten times... get a bike with a STD paint finish ..it wont go any slower !!! and PLEASE ..if you do get a race rep ,dont get the matching Leathers , Gloves boots etc etc .cos when you change the bike you gotta change all the gear too !!!!
