August 4th to 8th. Cat and i are going to take a trip to fort william. its our first bike tour so it will be pretty gentle. we're leaving monday morning, riding to east kilbride (no M-way) where we're gonna stay in a premier inn, then tuesday morning we'll set off to fort william with (we hope) lots of stops for fun and photos along the a82 (great bends etc) we'll then camp at fort william and wednesday we'll ride up to the isle of skye and back, camp that night in the same place, then do the return trip thursday (staying in the prem inn thursday night) and the final leg via the lake district on friday the 8th. so 5 days riding, few beers in the evening, easy pace (for anybody that wants easy of course...you might wanna go a lot faster)....good cheap holiday. I know its short notice but we've been holding off cause the summer has been pretty crap but according to the met centre its going to settle down and be a good few weeks from the end of july. if anybody fancies it we'd love you to join us. if you have a few days off, want a bit of a holiday etc then you could do loads worse.
bump this topic isnt so busy so people might miss it. we'd love it if anybody can join us so i'll bump it every couple of days.
It's a brilliant trip - I did a similar route over a week in the car last Summer. The North West just above Skye is absolutely stunning. I'd come along in a shot as I'd love to do some of those roads on the bike but unfortunately it lands right in the middle of a set of night shifts for me, and I can't get leave. I might do something very similar between 7-12 August staying in hostels, so if anyone else fancied it and also can't make Andy's dates then feel free to give me a shout.
gang of us went up in a transit van with the mountainbikes. So wish i'd gone on the bike!! brilliant roads!
Wish I could come and join you scotland is my fav place in the world. You have got to go throw Glen Coe. I went 3 yrs ago in july it was wet and cold but it was 1 of the best places I've ever rode throw. enjoy it no matter where you go!!!!
cheers guys, i doubted anybody could make it at such short notice but maybe next year we could organise a trip altogther?? i know carl has already suggested europe (which we might well be up for) but we've got plenty of time to sort that.
One of these days I'll be able to afford to get off this rock and come on one of your trips, so frustrating being over here
we're gonna try to get on the euro trip, i've not posted in the official thread yet as we dont know for sure but we're definately up for it.
