Theres only 2 others in Europe that I know of, both of those are the R version so this will be a one off
You tell insurance when you change bike color? Why? I'd say just inform the DSA (V5) and then insurance should update automatically through their database. If it doesn't it is their fault. Not saying that is right, just saying that is how I'm doing it. Last time I told insurance about any changes they held me on the phone saying my policy was void unless I pay £99.
not because of the colour. because of the race rep design which they may see as a modification. they could also try to refuse the likes of a theft claim as they may argue the design makes it more desirable and hence more of a risk of theft. knowing what bastards they can be i wouldnt give them an inch. they will probably not be bothered / no charge. but it would be a right kick in the dick if they ever refused a claim because it wasnt disclosed. remember the fuss over bennetts last year. you had to list every mod. and they only allowed so many. this even included if you had put a sticker on the bike!
yes agree with Lee if you do anything to your bike tell the insurer. if you have registered your bike with an insurer , which the V5 will show the colour obviously, then you make a claim and it goes to the insurer, he will be expecting the bike to be that colour not a different one . if they try to charge you an admin fee for doing this , they them to stuff it ! there was an article in mcn re bennetts , they were refusing payout because some riders had put stickers on their bikes and not informed them !!1 that is just crazy ..but highlights the problem .
depends on the insurer tbh, i work for 'more than' on the phones on servicing or renewals of policies... their question is.. "is there any modifications to increase performance, top speed, or acceleration?" we dont give a sh*t about colour
thats good to know adam think its Bennets who rule the roost on the stupid issues. I'm sure your right that most of the others are not worried over a colour change...bit inconsistent though, where its one rule for one and different for another
Reading through this and seems I'm buggered to, but not for a lack of trying. I lost my V5 last year and had binned my plates during the resto, went to DVLA in Trafford an they give me a proof of ownership letter and sent out a new V5, free of charge-also change the colour whilst there to its current 'blue'. New V5 arrives and says 'bronze'. Sod em, I don't even have my tax disc on my bike as it keeps being stolen, I carry all my documents & tax disc at all times and it's been reported to the police about the theft so many times they don't bother no more. Even so on my car insurance a few years back they reluctantly paid out my claim after discovering I had changed my headlights to HiD. Sods.
Yeah as soon as my renewal comes, im with bennets at the moment.. im leaving. Was asking about cancellation and admin charges when setting up the policy and it is ridiculous, money making scheme.
I'm with Bennetts for the YBR. They're a bunch of incompetent buffoons. It took me over a month to get all the paperwork sorted out with them because "They haven't received it" They also said that I should send my copy of the Direct Debit mandate in as their copy was lost... Stuff that, I made them send me out another blank document for my records. In the mean time, they upped my premium by over £200 because they hadn't received the documentation on time (Bearing in mind I was actually on the phone to them when said post arrived) Needless to say, they cancelled the increase before any money was taken out, then they had the balls to say that they were going to charge me an Admin fee?!!! WTF i said, why should I have to pay for your incompetence?! Three months on and my premium is now £210 (With 3 years NCB, on a 125... Get that?) and everything seems to be okay.
