I know it's not really the typical NWB 'style' bike, but I'm not (yet) very technically experienced and could do with a bit of a hand with the Guzzi Cali III. After a caliper piston got stuck on on the motorway at 80mph a couple of months back, it nackered the caliper and badly pitted (and cracked) the disc. I've finally managed to locate replacements for both (rocking horse shit I tell you), so I need to fit a new front brake disc and caliper, and setup the hose/cylinder/fluid. I know it's a fairly straightforward job in principle but nothing I've ever attempted. The bike's also being very akward to fire up and not idling high enough from cold (even with choke). So I'l like to give it a good once over if I can and make sure the fuel lines/carbs/air filter/plugs are all ship shape.

Anyway, if anyone with a bit more experience with bike maintenance (and maybe some handy tools) would be kind enough to pop down (Chorley) whenever it's convenient and give me a hand with the front brake and basically help me give it a good service, it would be very much appreciated and there's a crate of beer in it for you.

    Cheers, Alex.

p.s. don't all volunteer at once mind :)

I'm not 100% on how to do it, but I'm happy to come down and lend a hand to whoever helps out. I learn a bit then too :)

I can swap discs and calipers, but haven't bled brakes before, but it doesn't sound too hard.

Bleeding brakes is not hard. Just a pain in the ass. If I get some free time, I'll help out.

I'm just starting my shifts in work now.

    Cheers guys.

Get some paniers for that sports tourer of yours Paul  Alternatively, I could just give you some cash to buy yourself a crate of beer at home.

If you're up for it, then I work nights so am available at pretty much any time. No rush either - sometime in the next two weeks would be fine. Could fit it in before a meet or something since you'd be taking a bit of a trip up here. Mac, you're welcome to come along too - probably won't tell you too much about sports bikes mind.

Did you pull into MMC in leigh about a week ago?

Im sure i recall seeing that guzzi.

Adam is a well qualified guzzi mechanic, so taking it there would be beneficial!

Not guilty mate. Haven't had the Guzzi out for a couple of months as it was pretty impossible to find a new disc, and I've been enjoying the VFR anyway.

    Adam?

    Matty, you got PM.

My Dad has a Guzzi Le mans, I tried riding it but was put off by the bike going sideways when you rev them! He has done a lot of work on his though, he converted it to twin spark head, lightened the clutch for it. made new floating discs and had the engine tuned. He also fitted a period full fairing and had it sprayed up, its a pretty bike, but not for me!
