I am looking at doing the up and coming Oulton Park track day on the 6th of August. Here is my issue:

I have only been riding for about three months now and everyone who I seem to talk to about it either say "go for it you will learn a lot" or "why the hell are you doing it, wait a few more months and improve your riding before you go".

I know I really want to do a trackday especially after watching the lads there last week, advice needed.

I am confident and will obviously be going out in the novice group.

sean you ride a sports bike on the road with cars and walls and lamp posts and diesel and every other obstacle that can shit you up.A track day relieves you of this and gets your juices running. Its the safest place to play, the giudence you get from the staff is second to none. You go at your own pace and I garantee by your 3rd session your confidence will exude and will definately make you a better rider on the road.Go for it bud,you will want to do more and more.

go for it and enjoy yourself mate, do what i did at oulton and on your 1st session go out right at the back, that way you can learn the lines and graually increase the pace latching on to some faster riders abit at a time. :)

You'll be fine, just listen to the briefing and take it at your own pace it isn't a race it's a track day, ask one of the instructors to take you out and show you the lines, it is free and they will give you some good tips. Oh and don't take the far outside line going into Old hall as it is bumpy as feck.

Best advice I've ever read "Everyone makes mistakes, even Rossi"
Don't worry yourself thinking about how you missed the braking point (or turn in point, or got the lines wrong etc) for the previous corner, but rather concentrate on the here and now.

Right I am really looking forward to this Wednesday, a few questions for you all.

What would you recommend I take with me.
How much fuel will I use.
Ride there or get a van, bearing in mind that I am Stockport based ie not far.
What should I do to the bike, people talking about taking mirrors off etc.

    Defo a Van. Just incase u come off. I hope u don't.
    15 to 20 L of fuel
U don't have to take stuff of ur bike. just tape up. Front and back light. And remove number plate. You can remove mirrors or tape them up.if you got the time to take stuff off then do so.take a chair

I have booked onto the Oulton Park trackday this Wednesday, but the weather has changed it originally said Wednesday was supposed to be clear and dry. Now its foreacasting light showers all day

Has anyone ever asked Focused Events if you can change the circuit/date, as I want to enjoy the track in the dry.

Am I just being a mard arse and do you think I will enjoy it in the wet.

Bearing in mind that this is my first track day.

Just got back from Oulton Park and too say I am hooked is an understatement.

The first sessons were wet but still good, even though I payed a visit to the sand trap at Druids (just making sure that it stops you and I can officially say it works).

The second sessons were dry which made a whole lot of difference, two words describe this "fucking brilliant". After the last sesson Tom got some guidance notes on how to keep up :D and I got rid of the chickentrips

Some twat called Steve Plater kept on overtaking me, who the hell does that guy think he is, honestly the guy was a legend, even without paying him for guidance he was happy to help

I have footage of some of the laps which I will post.

    Bring on the next trackday.
