6 piston calipers

    the front brakes are binding on my 12R they are the 6 piston 1's anyone know how easy they are to strip down?

    They are easy to strip down if you have access to a compressor to blow the pistons out. The seals however are hideously expensive.

    I took the same calipers off my 7r and replaced them with bandit 1200 nissin 4 pot calipers.

    The difference is unbelievable! £40 for all the setup, a bolt on mod, improves the braking bite 200%

    Everyone on the RGV forum that has done the opposite (6 piston calipers in stead of 4) thinks exactly the same, they think the 6 piston calipers are great!

    haha, well gunna strip them and rebuild them next week, change the fluid etc....so will see then!!! will let you know the outcome.

    Have you still got the original rubbers lines on them?

    yes mate the bike is completely standard, braided hoses the way forward then?

    The rubber hose is pretty much knackered within a couple of years, you wont notice it until you have put new hose on as it is a gradual degradation.
