Morning all , iv had some 50mm dog bones in the garage For months and I think the time has come to jack the bandit Up , before I start has anyone done this before and found it Easy /tricky /hard ?
Er i think elliot (woody) has done this with some success..... Not a lot of success though, mostly fail tbh. Looks good but will probably corner like sh*t!
I done it on my gs... Simple mate I found the centre stand redundant afterwards. I got a piece of wood under the centre stand to pick the back end up enough, dropped the dog bones out and put new ones in. I think the bandit suspension setup is the same as the gs so it's exposed to all the crud. That was the only thing to slow me down was actually getting the nuts of might be an idea to get replacements just in case you sheer one then your stuck without a bike. Good luck bud
yeah, elliot went a bit extreme. up (a lot) at the rear, down at the front. (sv650) then bike went wobble, wobble and spat him off! think its easy to do, and may be ok on a bike like the bandit as the geometry is a bit more laid back than a sports bike. just take it easy!
Thanks guys, ill get on it today and hopfully it'll be easy Thanks for the block under center stand tip makes scense And when its done ( fingers crossed ) Ill take it easy and wont spill.
It'll make the bike corner really well however be warned its gonna be unstable at high speeds. Been there done that. Your changing the geometry a massive amount and result is the headstock is at a lesser angle. Please be careful when trying it.
and unstable at low speeds... feels like it wants to tip over & will tip in a LOT quicker so beware when you first take it out! you might need to alter the length of the sidestand as well or it will lean over too far pretty sure scotties bandit 6 was jacked, seeing as he's like 8foot 13 you'll probably have to increase the preload on the forks as well...maybe a trip to kais when its raised?
Im gona have a bit of a think about it now, Raising the rear or raising my chances of Coming off ? I think ill leave the dog bones On the shelf in the garage for a bit and maybe Change the undertray that'll make it LOOK a bit Higher at the rear .Thanks again guys. ( I think Iv used all my lives up already so ill give it a miss)
Yea by "handle better" I mean "throw you towards the floor faster" I liked the setup as it was controllable at those speeds but as you opened it up it just became completely unmanageable. The "jack up" look looks the dogs but the better way is to alter the subframe so you don't change anything for the worse.
Bandits arnt too bad to jack up doesn't make a huge amount of defence. My gs went up a few inches that was a pair of dog bones and the shock of a sv650
It does look better jacked up and im sure my bandit Would look great I just dont like the idea of raising my Chances of ending up down the road on my arse, and How do you add pictures on this forum , I can get the Pictures up but cant post them ( im on my phone)
Of your on tappatalk there is an icon above the keyboard (pic of a camera) that should give you the option of camera or gallery
mate i rode a 600 bandit for 18month with a 20mm jackup kit on it and its a piece of p*ss to do and it dont make hardly any difference to the handling
Not sure how to take that Haha. For a 500 twin in the twistys was stupid amounts of fun keeps up with most big bikes on the bends and a top speed of 125 mph. Shame I didn't have enough space for 2 bikes
