As some of you may remember, i managed write off my Yzf R125 two weeks after my test. Learnt a lot from it, but now comes the actual work to fix the bike. Its all your typical stuff, bent levers, brakes, smashed fairings, destroyed clock ect. The plan is to streetfighter it for Mrs Honda to learn on and show her basic maintainance whilst i'm at it.

Today the work began, firstly the bike was stripped, checked the headstock, brakes, frame ect for damage, all seems to be cosmetic. [IMG]

The levers will need to be replaced,
A new clutch and brake lever along with a brake pedal [IMG]

Managed to get to the electrics and identified all of them ready to replace the ignition, clocks, lights ect
    [IMG]
Although i will put it out there now, i need a hand with removing the security screws on the ignition barrel, i dont have the tools or know how :( [IMG]
I'll update every couple of weeks or so, working 60+ hours a week its hard to find time to work on it!

Brake pedal. Get the rubber off, a tickle of heat, a vice and a well chosen pipe lever and that'll straighten. Lick a paint, be fine until you're ready to sell. No point outing new on for her to through it up the road again.

Sorry if that was brutally pragmatic.

Ok pal, put a list of things together that you can't do and ill run down with some tools (I'm a cheshire boy so not too far).

If you get it sorted in the meantime no harm done but if not Ill sort it all.

Not had much time for this recently, but had a bash this morning, the ignition is now fitted, and it wouldn't start....cue changing the fuses just in case as well as double checking all the connections and loom, had a fuse blown as well as some wiring that had snapped due to the friction rubbing during the accident, she then roared into life! Well....meowed into life. Nice little smile before work hearing her exhaust pop away. Stalls whenever shes put into gear though despite the clutch being pulled in, so tomorrow i'll check the side stand switch and all the usual offenders.

The major mechanical work is done, its now just a case of deciding whether or not i go with the original streetfighter plan or completely restore it to former glory, that way i can sell her at a reasonable price to go towards the tiger.

Spent a couple of hours on her again this morning, sorted out the issues with the side stand kill switch, she now runs as she should, sorted through the old fairings and reused what was salvageable for now. Refitted the standard exhaust purely because ive recently decided loud cans arent for me. Took her for a spin in the compound just to be sure everything is working as it should. Besides finding a set of clocks with a low enough milage on (she only had 4500) all that remains to be done is cosmetics, such as locating a nose cone for a decent price. [IMG]

They really are a beautiful bike, the dash at night is probably the best part of the bike! The gearbox on yamaha in general are one of the smoothest i've had the pleasure of experiencing and the yzf is no exception! I was personally getting a good 220 miles to a tenner. The only gripe i have with the bike, and all sports style bikes really, is the almost non existent turning circle, as a return to biking that this was for me, i realise i should have opted to go for a naked with slightly more agility and a higher view point for obs, you live and learn though, and this will now be used for commuting ect. If its your first bike, don't let the looks sway you, i wouldn't recommend it, i'd suggest a honda cbf125 or similar. [IMG] [IMG]

On a side note, if anyone hears of a breakers that has a yzf in drop me a PM, i've tried Blacks but all their phone numbers are always dead. Had no luck with any other local breakers either.
