got our invoice for next years TT. It came in at £240 for rider and bike. Due by 27th Feb. So not much of an increase from last year. BTW foot passenger is £98.
Just paid £230 for bike and rider for the July Southern 100 week - up about £30 on last year - outside of racing weeks it's about £100 less ... Robbing twats - although it is worth the fee for both the free racing and the use of their roads....
thanks for that stu …might consider that option and take my push bike ..i normally fly out for the first race weekend and stop at my friends , he has three bikes there in his garage if i need to ride..but those pesky germans are a nightmare on the track i mean road
i agree with ignoring the cost…….to see the TT is priceless and should be on your bucket list Ive just got my flight seats sorted so I'm a dead cert to attend just hope Michael dunlop gets a ride sorted
That quote above "Think I've had my kicks in the iom last me not going back for a few years" ain't me !- where's that come from ... Am on my 11th Visit next year (7xTTs, 2x Out-of-season trips and 2xSouthern 100s) - intend to get there every year - it is priceless...
I go to ride my bike Past few years I've been rolling on a gixxer 1000 k6 on which I tend to ride the mountain to Greg the laxey back to mountain 17.5 miles ish In 2013 I took my k6 to new speeds quicker than most on the roads in the iom i did 4 laps of the 17.5 miles with a chap who's an ex racer an has been to the iom for the last 22 years he was on a gixxer tho k4 he's was the quickest rider on the iom I've ever rode with after two laps gauging how quick he can go I went quicker an peaked in my ride pace to my own limit from the start of the mountain down to the Greg I couldn't go any faster as the my gixxer couldn't go any fast it was maxed After this days riding I thought well I'm done no point being here as I've no one the learn from or to race with during the day I do enjoy everything about the TT but I go to ride mainly didn't go last year and I'm not going next year mainly because I think I've done my quickest time from point a to point b In 2016 il go back on a 600 cc maybe Everyone's says they are quick I guess but in the iom the road riding is on a different level than uk or anywhere This i got caught speeding in the uk 6 points later I'm thinking sports bikes are a complete waste of time for on uk roads so I'm changing my main bike for an off road to extend my skills on a motorbike an try an my kicks in different areas )
My mates just been on and he reckons some Manx maniac has taken down all the pics, letters and tributes from fairy bridge today as he didn't like them. WTF ! The place was like a shrine.
That's one perspective ! After nearly topping myself on a GSXR11 there in 95 (at Glen Helen) I moved to naked bikes - largely because you can ride them a little more to the limit - The CB1000R is pretty quick but more moderate when compared to the latest naked superbikes - the suspension has been fettled and after about 130 you can't see anything anyway ... The beauty of the Southern is that the racing is all in the evening (except Thursday race day) so a lot of time is spent exploring the island both on and off the TT circuit - I think there's always something to learn though - I don't think there can be 'too many laps' - if you want to 'race' then maybe the Manx is the next step as I don't think you can ever fully learn that circuit ...! There's loads to do over there and a week is about enough - off the beaten track there are some pretty spectacular beauty spots !
yep I agree with Soviet…the island is small but packed with great ride routes and stuff to do ..if the weather was med style it would be one of the best places in europe to go
£156 pound two adults in my car over the valentines weekend ) bargin Stay at my mates house in port Erin for free
If you can really "max out' your Gixer thou over the mountain, maybe you should think about competing? I have a DVD of Dave Jeffries doing it on the same bike and that is impressive.
I'd love you have a go at the Manx thought about it many times few years back But that time has pasted me now but never say never I guess
