Hi all. As some of you may know I have been doing bike tours since 2000 for my friends. Next year i'm opening it up to friends of friends. The rough outline is group ride to Portsmouth. Overnight ferry to Santander. Ride to Castro and book into the hotel. every day will be a different route through the mountains of northern Spain. On the Monday we travel back to Santander get the ferry and land in the UK on Tuesday dinner. Group ride home. The cost will be Approx £550 This includes ferry both ways, 2 berth cabin both ways and the accommodation in Spain. I'm limiting the numbers to 12 bikes at present but I might change this depending on how may of my regulars want to help out on the trip (for a discount) I know its a bit early but i wanted to get it in peoples minds. ill put updates on here as we move closer i have also set up a FB group where i will be creating FAQ's ,routes and kit lists etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/663219613726663/
to the uninitiated, the riding on and around the Pyrenees is absolutely fantastic. Well worth £550 worth of any bikers cash.
If you have never ridden abroad and want to try it - do this. I still think the empty roads of northern spain are just fantastic and some of the best i have ever seen. racetrack style tarmac, no traffic, stunning scenery. Now on a slant to the above, anyone fancying to do a one way boat as above, then a week to ride home count me in. Bollox to camping, hotels and travel light every time.
you riding the picos ? fronkey? absolutley superb round there, Potes is a top ride….the only thing that puts me off , and for the first timers this is not a big issue, its the Santander ferry..it just takes ages, and ages and ages! it obviously adds to your riding time away , but consider what Paul,CRM, says about returning up through france to a ferry , Cherbourg etc. This way you can see the Millau Viaduct, Le Mans, even visit the war beaches…I'm sure you will have been to many of those places though
We could always do two trips perhaps ? all share the boat on the way down, one day together then split ? just a thought and not trying to suggest any kind of deviation to fronkeys top plan. And for those who have never ridden abroad, you don't need the most suitable bike. I have done it on a 916, CBR600RR and the best fun (and comfiest) was on a RVF400. I have always wanted to tour on the RC but the lack of ability to carry any luggage and it's appetite for oil killed that dream off. so anyone touring on something suitable to can "rent" a pannier i would deffo be interested and i could then make the fantasy come true. All i need is 15litres of luggage space for clothes and bits, and another 20 litres for the oil it will burn.
Hi Guys love the input but if you want do any deviate from the the above trip please do it on a different thread as it becomes very confusing for people trying to work out whats happening. There are lots of different routes and places to go but I have been doing this a long time and people come back time and time again the routes I run are great and people enjoy them. Hope that's ok :thumbsup:
8 days in total Tuesday to Tuesday the price is around £550 and that includes ferry both ways with a cabin and hotel out there - Based on 2 people sharing. you also get maps and marked routes so you can do them with the main group or just your self.
that sounds well organised ..respect to you ..not easy sorting trips for people as we all have different personalities, and what pleases one pisses another off…..yep i agree keep this thread to your trip only
That's right with the timings. This isn't a guided motorcycle tour. I need to make this clear. This is a motorcycle trip to Spain which I will arrange things for everyone and with daily rideouts. The reason its this, is so I can protect myself from people being stooopid out there then trying to sue me. I don't make any money from this I do it to get people out there riding some fantastic roads. Please keep the questions coming as if you can think of it other people can to.
Money is always the key. I'm setting up a PayPal account. Where people can make small payments over time. 550 is the max I'll be working on getting costs down. I'm looking for 50 quid deposit in December with the rest being paid before April. However I'll set up paypal in the next month so people can make early small payments if they wish. I know I will.
