Top of Great Orme is a good place, has them copper mines that date back 4000years and a ski slope plus toboggan run for a few bob.
The camp site at Hulme End is well worth a stay there are bands on at the weekends in the pub accrposs the road its only 2 miles from whetton Cafe and the tunnel you will want tu run your bike through Its half an hour to Matlock Bath and about 40 mins to the Cat and Fiddle But you can make it an hour by using the roads out of Macc towards Leek then heading over the winking Man and then going cross country . A proper tour of the Peak Park takes about 5 hours with the usual stops for tea fags or what ever and you have the option of doing The Blue john Mines, taking the youngsters up the cable car at Matlock and seein gthe mine at the top of to the gullivers kingdom Place. Arkwrights Mill at Cromford The creich Railway Museum .... so either on your own on the bike or with the kids and other half in the car there is plenty to do of a weekend or bank holidaya break. During the week Derwent Reservoir road is open right to the end its shut weekends and bank holidays. Likewise the road out of Errwood up to the Cat and Fiddle is only open during the week and is closed at weekends. After you take the Snake Pass, and drop into Bamford its worth riding into Hathersage and the turning left just after the petrol station and heading up onto the moors, The view from up there is stunning ....I wish I had a Camera on the bike so I could show you all what there is to see and which most people miss because when they come over this way they stick to the boring roads viagellia to Matlock or 1515 to Ashbourne or the cat and fiddle or the snake ..There are so many more to see For those with cross country type bikesm the Back roads out of Chapel and Chinley over Cracken Edge and Eccles pike lead on to the Back roads into Buxton where you have to give way to chickens in the road and the like . The smaller roads are well worth doing by bike , wouldnt want to do them in a car .

The Wheatsheaf Pub - Croston Just before it is a strip of road they call 'Croston Bends'. Super wide roads, lots of nice bends, can be done at high speeds, drops down into Croston, a small town with a few nice pubs, great in the nice weather.
Yes to both of those . ESP the carousel , see lots of L plate riders in the summer . Just cos you have an L plate it don't make you any different . Get out there and enjoy .
