Hi.. Looking to start track days in the new yr, was gonna book myself into one of those novice days only at oulton (6th Feb), are they any good and is it worth it, or just better of goin in full throttle to normal trackdays and learn that way?
I did the last "novice only" day at Oulton, It was good but there was no way at least half of the people were novices. Just people after a cheap track day Too many people not giving novices enough space especially going into corners. I was in a garage with mainly novices and we all had a laugh and enjoyed it
From what I read it looks good.. Least it'll be good laugh non the less. Thought a few cheecky blighters might squeeze in a cheap track day, lol. Thanks for reply matey.
You on the track bradders! !!! Some good days are the road bike only ones. People tend to be a little calmer on them as it's their pride n joy.
Did the last novice only at oulton 15 oct, brilliant, genuinely my 3rd track day but was on a track ready bike with wets and tire warmers, made a huge difference especially in my confidence... The great thing about the novice only day are the cones...they are there to indicate tip in point and apex...simply join the dots riding from one to the other...worked brilliantly for me One issue I had was that others seemed to struggle with a very simple concept Get on one its great
if your unsure ….i know MSV who own Oulton run novice taster sessions, these are just a 20 min session at the end of the day for complete track newbies….the best full "novice " day is the BIKE mag reclaim the tracks day. This is road bikes only two novice groups and one "experienced " group. its usually on July time full on track days are superb and will help your road riding too. the feb and March days are used a lot by the ACU boys testing their bikes for the new season ..they dont want to be in Novice , but if the FAst group as sold out ..thats where they go ! I would say book it and have a great time , dont worry about others on the track just ride your own ride
The RAF Valley Track weekend is probably the most well behaved track event. People generally only over take by going round the outside and it's really relaxed day. Can't recommend that one enough.
@Dave Mate the novice only on 15 oct was MSV 7 x20 min sessions I did a Bike mag " reclaim the track" at oulton couple years ago you get sharks on that....no doubt it happens on all track days And for sure I know if blokes who use inters or novice if the fast group is booked....naughty but up to the organisers to pull the obvious ones
