just found this thread. have to say, as a noobie, but with a passion for the aesthetic design, (and a long love of bikes), there are 2 things i get a real kick from, one the chain, love the steampunk look of a long chain, plus the exhaust assembly is facinating.
There has clearly been a real hard labour of love but great thought gone into this. I too am waiting to see the end result. Great to see. ty 4 sharing. :)

    Thanks for the kind words..

    Mixed day....
Stripped the shitty old paint off the cases which took forever, popped a new gear arm bush and seal in and new clutch arm needle roller and seal. Replaced all bearings on the gear clusters. All going well until I decided to drill a small hole in my hand. Well the drill snapped and subsequently I slipped and it went straight into my knuckle.
So I'm sat in a&e probably pointless but I don't have a current tetanus jab and to be fair my hand is throbbing like fuck. Ah well, at least what I did looks good.
All bearings are up rated, the box ones are the ones TSS used to do. The front sprocket bearing is a 11 ball max load bearing, same as what I'm using on the crank mains... Standard are 7 ball.
My cylinders are with mick abbey being ported to the port map the pipes were designed for. Hopefully have the bottom end built this week.

Ouch... Well, I was thinking this bike couldn't mean much more to you, but it's literally been blood, sweat and tears now!

Hope you've not caused any lasting damage mate

Engine is nearly built but I've had some infuriating setbacks along the way.
I was really looking forward to getting to this stage, but buying an engine in bits has made this more difficult,
... It's not the end of the world the fact that I didn't strip it, but it does make it harder to build something you didn't take apart... What has been a total cunt though is having boxes, and boxes and boxes of parts... Some very small but very significant parts missing.. Being on a roll then having to stop and order them, then start again. With the best will in the world I thought I had all bases covered but there's still been a few things that have stopped me in my tracks and I've ended up not enjoying this stage at all.
I'm looking forward to it being done though of course and not losing interest. It's just not gone as swimmingly as I hoped.
Case in point, tonight I came to torque up my primary drive and water pump drive gears on the end of the crank, easy... Then came to fit the inner clutch hub which on the face of it looked fine. Decided to look more closely and found a crack... So that's going in the bin and it's another wait and ££ until a new one arrives.
Last night a head stud snapped as I was fitting the head, even though they're spec'd at 20ftlb and I was creeping up on them 10, 15, 20, bang. Must have been a defective one, got it out the head ok but it's another fucking wait to get a new set as I'm not chancing any of them now.
It's not far off and the rest has gone very well. Selects all gears nice, all new bearings, bushes, crank, gear selector pistons, barrels, head, billet basket, straight cut gears etc etc etc all new. There's not much that's second hand.
Anyway, some pics.. Just miffed it's not finished but it's not far away
