k1 gsxr750

    toying with the idea of a change this year and have the opportunity to get a low mileage gsxr 750 k1 with a k3 1000 rear end .so just thought id ask peoples views those that have owned them.im on a budget because im keeping the cbr to hopefully swap for a naked hack .put 22k on the cbr in 18 months dont want to do that to a new bike lol so im looking at the older bikes as they also suit my height, newer bikes feel small under me .ive looked at litre bikes but going from my das to the cbr which is quick but a sport tourer .jumping to a litre sports bike might be a bit soon , so my train of thought is the 750 would be a good transition bike .

    Sounds like a perfect bike for you.
    My only thing is I prefer them unmolested. Just my own preference.
    I always think "why did you put that on it" ? Just for styling or couldnt find
    they correct parts to fix some damage?

    These are great bikes ed . The engines are built to last and virtually bullet proof . The 750s are so underrated . It's has fast as the 1000 , does not Rev its tits off like a 600 and handles superbly . I had the 1000 k1 in 2001 and if I recall the rear subframe was bigger than the 750 and would not just bolt straight into place . So there must have been some welding involved ? Has the rear pillion pegs been moved to ?

    If you know the history of the machine and you're sure , great bike to own , if not I'd question why and how the rear sub is connected. You don't want it snapping when Tracey's on the back ! .....or do you ? Lol

    i has the 1000 rear sseat unit not the full back end so it doesnt have the big srad bump over the pillion seat .sorry for the mislead

    im out to matlock on sunday to see the bike and if alls well collect it the following weekend .then its get out at every opportunity to get used to it before spain in may .

    i would have thought you'd be too tall for the 750?

    ive sat on a k3 and a k8 recently and been pretty much feet footed on both.... and im a hell of a lot shorter than you haha.

    the k1 is the older bigger version sits just right with me anything newer and there to small

    the k1 750 did not have the srad hump in the 1st place;)

    I thought it went to T , V , W, X etc.
    Although gsxr750 srad would have also been accepted :D

    the WN WP WR and WS about 1992 - 1995 I think ( the first of the water cooled as opposed to the older air cooled slab framed ones ) the SRAD about 1996 - 2000 they lost the W and were the T, V, W, X (suzuki ram air device, (same as on the TL)) was the SRAD pre K1 2001 and so on..... The Y 2000 one might of been the same as a K1, fucked if I can remember...

    There a cracking bike.. if it's a genuine low mileage one there shouldn't be much wrong with it, check the obvious like forks and brakes etc.. Mine had it's neck wrung for at least 25k miles and was still pulling well, just let down by electrics in the end..
