I wanna book on the no limits track day for next February, my concern is that my Lazer pipe will exceed the noise limit. i can measure the sound level as i have access to an instrument. my question is how far away should i measure it from ? at what RPM ?.
on a more serious note … if you are going to oulton park they are really strict with noise ..ive seen std Panigales read at 103 and NOT been allowed on track ..the instrument they use is a noise meter that they stick into the end can its self ..you then have to rev to 5000rpm and hold it …if you fail you can go back to your pit box ,fit a baffle or put on another can etc then have the noise level re done ….they also do ride by testing …this catches riders out who have done they noise testing in the paddock with a std can and then swapped to a noisy one . Oulton is very strict , cad well are ok , donington dont give a fuk
i think one of the 1st ones next yr is 6th feb with msvt, might be worth popping down and getting tested. Its measured from 1meter at 90degrees from the can, if its a 600 its @ 6,000rpm
Got to disagree with Dave......Donnington are strict and also do drive-by testing, transgress and you will be black-flagged once then sent home on the next occasion. Cadwell are also strict as I think most tracks except Angelsey circuit seem to be these days!!! The test is done at different RPM's depending on the capacity and configuration of the engine Next easter Sunday and Monday might be a good place to ride it if its a bit noisy Good luck Ian
I think my BMW R1100S is quite muted. They tested mine at 105 dB(A) without the baffles in at Oulton Park at 5,500 rpm, and then at 5,000 rpm. It failed both times and I went home in a sulk.
Donnington was in the middle of nowhere when I used to go with my mate Gerry Taylor, and we did radio Donnington for Mr Wheat-croft thingy? He was a funny man.
