First up, i've never done it, and havent got the tools to do it, so it'll be cheaper and quicker to pay for it this once :thumbsdown: Bike is running far too rich and lumpy, up to the point of flooding and stalling at lights. Looking for a recommended garage in south manchester that balance carbs at a fair price?

if you aint done it before , best left to the Pros, as you might make it worse ,messing around with the jets ..if you know what size jets you need its pretty straight forward job of , taking a carb off, taking it apart , removing the old jet and popping in another. Have you checked air filters not clogged up ? causing the lumpy running
I pulled it all apart the other day, someone has modded it to actually allow more air in, removijg the cover, the foam on the tank and also raising the tank a bit, i assume they have done this instead of balancing the carbs, nothing is blocked up, it runs beautifully for a good hour, but when i start doing city work, she starts to get lumpy, then even juddering during cruising speed, stalling at lights ect, it all matches previous bikes that have flooded ect. On a side note, the plugs are not an issue, i replaced them last week with new ones to see if it'd help.
cant see it being more than £40 mate he did my fork seals for £50 top bloke he will do it while you wait.
What colour were the old plugs? Can you hear the fan kicking in when she gets hot in town. I mean on the bike. ;-)
I can't see that being the carb balance out or it would be the same all the time I'd be looking for something that changed when it gets hot... What's the bike?
Suzuki sv 650, i think its more to do with the bike flooding over a period of the ride than being hot. As it still runs lumpy now if i turn it on. Theres also a strong smell of fuel, and if i take the plugs out, they're wet. So it's certainly flooding, for whatever reason. Carb balance just seemed the obvious port of call considering its recently had a new exhaust.
Black, and the front was wet as well. I don't generally take her out and about in town if i'm honest, i have the cbf for that, so i've never really worried about that. It's not a temperature thing anyway :thumbsup:
Mine was the same. I stripped and cleaned the carbs. Someone had shimmed the needles and screwed the "mixture" screws hard against the stops. The needles were dinged as well. So new needles, new jets, new diaphragms, everything put back to stock. Then I balanced the carbs. Runs fine now and the plugs are text book colour. Balancing is a pig on the SV cos the vacuum port on the front carb is behind the rad and really awkward to get at. I added a bit of plumbing and a couple of valves behind the left hand side panel. Five minute job now. None of the above is difficult btw, but if you don't enjoy it let someone else do it. Good luck!
Carb balance will not make it flood. Float needles sticking will, I'm with GixxerD, the heat may have something to do with it. Vacuum hoses getting hot expanding and allowing air in. Also check inlet clamps are tight to engine and air box.
Just an update with this, it turned out to be the reg/rec in the end. Voltage was going haywire causing the stuttering. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
You get the new reg rec on it yet? Had the same with my cbr. Started stuttering like fuel issue then died.
