Well with winter approaching very quickly and a particularly hard season on the R1 it's time to take it off the road to do repairs a hood service and an upgrade. I considered replacing the suspension however after hoofing it around valley using a new suspension set up I'm happy to keep it. So first off is the tuning. It's of to hammer n tongs in Warrington for... 1. New hi flow air filter 2. Jet kit (yes it has carbs) 3. Quick action throttle 4. Dyno and tune. 5. New oil and seals on the forks. I'll let you know when it comes back. Lots more still to do.....
Take it to race hq in Leeds let them get it singing an dancing don't need a power commander as they flash your Ecu with the new dyno run map
Well on the Dyno recorded it's first run and came back with 130bhp at the back wheel. After the work it kicked out 140bhp at the back wheel. That's quite good it's only meant to chuck out 140 at the crank! Chap at hammer and tongs was really impressed with it and how well it goes. New fairing is being delivered next week so it's gonna look like new.
Well the new faring has just arrived. I ordered it from China as I didn't want to keep the original plastics on it. So the originals will be restored and placed in storage. As for the ones from China well I have to say I'm really impressed 300 with delivery and import tax. The finish is really good and they match the originals exactly. Only thing is the red is a solid red and the originals it's a metallic red but for the track your not going to notice. Happy days I'll post some pictures up when it's finished.
What did you reckon to Hammer & Tongs ? Seems like the nearest tuning / suspension shop to me in North Manchester ...
Quite happy with them they picked the bike up did the job and dropped it off. Not expensive for all the work I had done it was just over 500 quid. I'd recommend them.
That's not bad at all for pick up and deliver back ! Good result on the dyno - that's a good honest set of ponies !
With the quick action throttle it should really make a difference. Really looking forward to the first track day.
Better take some arm bands, because if there's a pond near a corner exit then you'll end up in it with that mental quick action throttle. I'll visit you In'th hospital and bring you the usual grapes do ne worry.
Full strip complete today. Just got an engine a frame and the wiring. I'll do a deep clean this weekend then spray my radiator ends as the paint is coming off. After that it time to start putting it back together. I also need to send the tank off to be undented.
