Hi guys Is anyone going to the Isle of Man TT next year? I have just booked my ferry for Wednesday, 28 May I don't know where I will be staying yet but I probably will be camping around Douglas area I've never been before so I don't really know where to go on or what I'm looking for etc Has anyone ever been before and does anyone have any tips? It would be good to meet up with you's over there if anyone is going? Cheers
http://www.iomtt.com/ http://www.visitisleofman.com/ Good info found here , I fly there for the race weekends , you will have a great time . Most of the night time action is around Douglas bay , so get down there , just take care riding on the course, everyone thinks they are guy Martin . Have a great time , quite a few from here go over
There are plenty of camp sites, Union Mills, Bagarrow, Kirk Michael etc. Hotels and B&Bs are usually booked up a year in advance and/or very expensive. You can try a Homestay were you stay at a local's house. There is lots of info on iomtt.com. Douglas is quite lively at night, they usually have a fair and stunt shows on the prom and Bushys beer tent with live bands, and er,beer. Ramsey is good too and Peel and Castletown are well worth a visit and the roads are decent getting to them as well. I wouldn't bother about grandstand or fanzone tickets, there are hundreds of places to watch for free, or some really good ones like Quarterbridge or Braddon Bridge that only charge a fiver or so. Watch out for some of the European riders, they will pass on both sides. Watch out at campsite entrances as well, they can pull out and automatically use the wrong side of the road :-( There are some stunning roads in the centre of the island that tend to be much quieter than the TT course area. Well worth a potter
I can personally vouch for union mills campsite, food ,showers toilets all on site. Good owners that don't let the partys go on to late ! Bus stop opposite the entrance 10 mins into douglas. Kirkmicheal village has a fantastic viewing spot on the right as your going through, £5 but theres a toilet and the Womens Institute do sandwichs, cakes brews etc and all goes to charity. Just go and enjoy, you will be hooked and want to go every year !!!!!!
I agree with KirkMicheal ...thats a great place to watch . the noise bouncing off the village house is superb
Yep, top spot on Douglas rd corner. We were next to the Dunlop clan doing pitboards in the field next to the pub last year. As an added bonus the pub sold BEER! Ha ha ha
Best slot iv been is on the grass bank at the end of sulby on the kink before they brake and in the trees at glen Helen on a gay triple
